What is UrbanPro’s Mission?
UrbanPro aspires to be one of the most trusted platforms for any learner to conveniently find Personal Tutors conducting 1-to-1 & Personalized classes online or nearby for learning Languages, School or college curriculum, Hobbies or Professional courses.

UrbanPro is the only platform, which helps Tutors build their own brand over time. It provides tools to Tutors to:
- Create a rich profile, which can be showcased to the world. The profile gets stronger as more students are taught via the UrbanPro platform.
- Contact potential Students via message, calls and scheduled demos.
- Collect payments and teach using the UrbanPro LIVE platform.
What is the UrbanPro Partnership program?
The UrbanPro Partnership program is a tutor partnership program designed to offer
- Better Return on Investment for Tutors, helping them not just connect with new student prospects but also run classes with converted students.
- Better Experience for Students, helping them identify top tutors handpicked by UrbanPro and start classes with them as early as possible.
The Partnership program is based on revenue sharing and ranks tutors based on their tier (Standard Partner & Top Tutor), the conversion rates and average fee per student.
How does the UrbanPro Tutor Partner program work?
You can switch your account to that of a Tutor Partner simply by following the prompts shown in your account when you log in. Once you have become a Standard Partner, you can apply to become a Top Tutor Partner, if eligible, to get better visibility to students.
Tutors in this program can connect with students via demo classes booked by students or by calling or messaging them. As opposed to the old model, in this model coins are deducted only when:
- Students book a demo with you
- You call the students and they answer the phone
- You message a student, via UrbanPro, and they see the message
- You set up auto-response and a response is sent to a student
This helps you reduce the coin consumption and contact more students with the same number of coins.
To ensure you get demo bookings, you need to define your availability on the Calendar provided by UrbanPro. UrbanPro then allows Students to book free demo classes with you based on your availability. The demo sessions are 50 minutes long, but you could choose to end the class earlier if the student has no more questions.
Towards the end of the demo class, you can discuss the fees you charge. After the class ends, you send a payment link to the students to pay. If there is a delay from the Student’s side to make a payment, you can follow-up by either sending a message or calling the Student. UrbanPro will also send them reminders via emails and SMS messages to try to get them to pay on-time.
You will be notified, once Student makes a payment. You can then schedule classes with the Student via the UrbanPro Calendar and start teaching using UrbanPro LIVE.
The payment system in UrbanPro is an escrow system. When a student makes a payment for classes, it is held in escrow and transfered to your linked bank account on a weekly basis. The amount transfered each week is based on the number of classes you teach in a week. Once it is calculated UrbanPro will transfer the corresponding fees to your bank account, after deducting an applicable transaction fee.
All payments taken from a student, for the lifetime of the Student, must be taken via the UrbanPro SecurePay service.
It is prohibited to exchange contact information with the Student sourced via UrbanPro. All conversations (calls, messages and classes) must happen via the UrbanPro platform.
As our partners, we need you to follow the guidelines as listed here with full honesty and integrity, so that we can mutually benefit and deliver a great learning experience to students
What Transaction Fee does UrbanPro charge?
First Rs. 4,800 to 6,000*
There will be a flat fee of Rs. 1,200 for the first Rs. 6,000 in a transaction
The rest will be charged between 20% and 25% of the balance amount

- Installments are considered part of the First payment and not Repeat payments.

You must have an UrbanPro Coins balance to get Enquiries from UrbanPro. If your coins balance is not sufficient, you will not be listed on the platform, and hence will not receive any enquiries.
Why does UrbanPro charge coins for every enquiry?
Every enquiry that UrbanPro generates, we charge coins for a successful connection. The connection can happen over a phone call, message or via a Demo class.
We charge coins to ensure that Tutor is serious and is actively engaged with the Platform. You earn UrbanPro Coins back when you convert an enquiry to a Student. Look at the coins being deducted as a lead generation fee that is refunded once you get a Student.
However, since these are 'leads', we don't guarantee that each and every 'connected' enquiry will either attend a demo or make a payment. However, if you find that you are not able to convert even one in 20 enquiries that you get, please get in touch with our support team which will do its best to help you get better conversions.
The number of Coins deducted for a category is determined by the average ticket size and the conversion rate for the given category. The plan is set up such that - if your conversion rate from Enquiries to Students is similar to other Tutors on the UrbanPro platform, you will not need to purchase Coins ever again.
When does UrbanPro charge Coins for an enquiry? Can these Coins be refunded?
Coins are charged only when you connect successfully with a student. This means that you connected via:
- A student booked a demo class with you
- A call got connected to the student for at least 30 seconds
- A message that you sent and was read by the student
- When an auto-response is sent to a student
Once charged, the coins can not be refunded.
What is UrbanPro SecurePay escrow payment service?
UrbanPro SecurePay is an escrow payment service offered to tutors and students. All payments made by students are deposited into the SecurePay escrow account (as per RBI regulations) and it will remain there until the promised number of classes are completed by the tutors.
If you are found to be taking a direct payment from an UrbanPro sourced Student, your UrbanPro account will be permanently blocked. Since this is a serious issue, it breaks the trust forever and we will not be able to activate the account again - even if you pay that amount back to us. UrbanPro also reserves the right to showcase your profile as a blacklisted profile on its website, to discourage other Tutor partners from taking this route.
When will I get the payment from UrbanPro?
UrbanPro makes weekly payments to your bank account, for the classes that you complete.
For example, if you promised 10 classes to a student who paid Rs 5000 via UrbanPro SecurePay, and you finished 2 classes in a week, you will receive payment for those 2 classes after deducting the UrbanPro Transaction Fee.
Please make sure that you teach via UrbanPro LIVE and ensure student attendance is properly marked, to avoid any delays in payments being released to you.
For classes completed until the end of day Tuesday (IST), payments are released on Wednesday and will reach your account within 2 working days.
Why should tutors sign up for the UrbanPro Tutor Partner program?
Following are the key reasons why the UrbanPro Tutor Partner program will prove a lot more beneficial to tutors.
- Coins are charged only for Connected enquiries
UrbanPro coins will be charged only for a connection made either through a ‘message’, ‘call’ or ‘attended demo’ (only the first connection will be charged for every enquiry. For example, if you ‘call’ an enquiry and that Student attends your demo as well, you will be charged coins only for the ‘call’ if that happened first). This is an improvement over the earlier version where tutors would lose coins if the learners did not read messages, reply back or pick up calls from tutors.
- Coins will never expire and subscription plans automatically default to Silver, if not renewed
Tutors can keep responding to enquiries as long as they have sufficient coins remaining in balance. They can always add more coins by ‘buying’ coins or by converting enquiries and receiving a bonus in the form of coins.

Tutors in the UrbanPro Tutor Partner program can save 20% on the cost of Coins added to their account by getting student payments via UrbanPro SecurePay. 100% of the amount collected as Transaction Fee will get converted into Bonus Coins that will be added to their account at an effective price of Rs 1 per Coin (vs Rs 1.25 which is the normal price per Coin)

Why does UrbanPro charge a transaction fee for every payment received from a student?
The transaction fee effectively is a low-cost means of purchasing coins from UrbanPro. Instead of purchasing Coins using the 'Buy More Coins' option in your account, tutors will add more coins to their account by accepting student payments through UrbanPro SecurePay. For every Transaction Fee that Tutors pay to UrbanPro, the same number of coins will get added to their account. Effectively, it is completely in tutors' interest to get all their student payments through UrbanPro SecurePay only and get coins added to their account for responding to more enquiries in the future.
What are ‘paid’ demos? How does it benefit tutors?
Certain Students see an option to book a demo only after they pay a token amount of Rs. 99 This is being run as an experiment currently and we have not rolled it out yet to 100% of Students visiting UrbanPro. The entire token amount of Rs 99 taken from Students for demos is transferred to UrbanPro. Tutors benefit from:
- Higher probability of such Students converting as paying students for the tutor
- Lesser time spent on demos, leaving more time for classes with paying student batches.
What will happen to my account if I don't opt for the UrbanPro Tutor Partner program?
If you do NOT enrol for the Tutor Partner experience when it is applied 100% for one of your categories, you will stop receiving enquiries for that category. Once you opt for the experience, it will get applied to ALL categories you teach on UrbanPro. Unfortunately, we do not have a way to support both Tutor Partner and the current experience in the marketplace. Gradually, all categories on UrbanPro will be migrated to the new Tutor Partner experience.

Can I bring my own Student that is not sourced via UrbanPro?
We encourage you to bring your own Student, as it strengthens your UrbanPro profile and improves your ranking. As of now, there are no charges for this.
What are UrbanPro Coins?
UrbanPro ‘Coins’ is an internal currency on UrbanPro that tutors can use to respond to any enquiry on their dashboard. If you do not have any Coins available in your account, you will not show up in searches by any student. You may purchase Coins by using the ‘Buy more coins’ option in your account, or you can get Bonus Coins by converting enquiries to students and receiving payments from them via UrbanPro SecurePay.
The number of Coins required to respond to any enquiry will vary depending on the category of that particular enquiry. For example, an enquiry in ‘Spoken English’ may cost 50 Coins while an enquiry in ‘Dance’ may cost 25 Coins.
What is an UrbanPro Calendar?

What is an escrow account?
An escrow account is an account where funds are temporarily held in trust until 2 parties to a contract - such as tutors and students - complete a transaction. This is part of UrbanPro SecurePay payment service and it allows us to guarantee students that they can trust UrbanPro SecurePay while making payments to tutors they select on UrbanPro.
What are my tax liabilities? Are there any TDS deductions that may apply?
For the transaction fee that you pay to UrbanPro (against which you get the equivalent number of Bonus Coins added to your account), UrbanPro will pay its share of GST to the government
For the amount that gets transferred to you, you will be liable to pay GST to the government as per your tax registration status. As of now, UrbanPro does not deduct any TDS. For further clarity, please consult your tax advisor and send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org in case you have any query or concern about this.
What are some key points regarding UrbanPro Tutor Partner program to be absolutely aware of?
In order to ensure that we deliver the best experience possible to students who post their learning requirements on UrbanPro, we have to put in place certain guidelines so that we can help our tutor partners become as sensitive to our students’ expectations as UrbanPro aspires to be.
No sharing of personal contact details with the students.
UrbanPro reserves the right to suspend any tutor from the UrbanPro Tutor Partner program for a period which may last for a few days, months or even permanently, at the sole discretion of management at UrbanPro.com, if a tutor is found to be indulging in any of the following activities:
- Sharing their contact information with students via messaging, a call or a demo session conducted through UrbanPro.com. Including any contact information that can potentially take the conversation and the student outside of UrbanPro, will be considered as a ‘strike’ against the tutor.
- Sharing any information, link or any message that can be used by the student to make a payment to the tutor, without using UrbanPro SecurePay link, will be considered as a ‘strike’ against the tutor
- Any failure to report students (within 24 hours of the incident happening) who either share their contact information or try to transfer payments without using UrbanPro SecurePay link, will also be considered as a ‘strike’ against the tutor.
- Following will be the duration of suspension for every ‘strike’ against a tutor:
4th strike: 90 days of suspension or permanent removal from the UrbanPro Tutor Partner program, at the sole discretion of the management at UrbanPro.com
Guideline #2: Do NOT miss a demo/trial. You may reschedule it after speaking with the students.
In order to ensure that students do not get a bad experience when they book a demo, UrbanPro will deduct 1x additional coins as a penalty if a tutor misses a demo. Also, 100 Pro Score points will be deducted for every demo missed by a tutor, which will also lower their visibility or ranking on UrbanPro. Please ensure that you attend every demo at least for 10 minutes in case the student is late for some reason.
Guideline #3: All future payments must be taken via UrbanPro SecurePay
A Student sourced by UrbanPro is an UrbanPro Student. You are working with UrbanPro in the capacity of a Partner. All future payments from this Student must be taken via UrbanPro for the lifetime of this Student. Any violation of this is considered as a serious breach of trust and will result in permanent blocking of your UrbanPro account. Your account will stay blocked, even if you return the money to UrbanPro. UrbanPro also reserves the right to display your profile on its website as a blacklisted profile, to discourage other Tutor Partners from taking this path.
Since we have a large number of Tutors Partners working on the platform, we can easily detect any cases of payments moving off the platform. We monitor your demo success rates, the average amount paid by the student overtime and other metrics to catch any divergence from normal. We strongly suggest that you don’t take the risk of taking direct payments, as it is going to result in permanent blocking of your account.
