One of the key components of our platform is the audio-video and whiteboard capability. Zoom services are used to enable this feature on UrbanPro LIVE. We understand your concern about the security of using Zoom, with the recent Ministry of Home Affairs advisory and we are closely watching the development on this front. Let us appraise you on the steps that we have taken to mitigate the threat while using Zoom through UrbanPro.
-
UrbanPro LIVE uses Zoom Meetings to conduct online classes. Zoom assigns a unique meeting-id for every meeting. The reuse of the same meeting ids has been the largest source of the breach reported. To ensure security of classes, UrbanPro neither shares the meeting ids with anyone nor reuses the same, the product generates a new meeting-id for every new class.
-
Every Zoom Meeting setup on UrbanPro LIVE, requires a registration and is also password protected. UrbanPro LIVE platform, securely registers the Tutor as well as the Student to a particular Zoom meeting. Every Tutor and Student gets a unique and secure link, which allows only them to join. So, it is not possible for an unauthorized user to gain access into an UrbanPro LIVE class.
-
As prescribed by the Ministry, we have disabled "Allow removed participants to rejoin" and File Transfer options.
-
Your class recordings are removed from Zoom servers and transferred to our highly secure cloud data storage servers within a few hours of your class ending. You also have the ability to disable recording, once you claim to be the host.
Your classes on UrbanPro LIVE takes place in a secure environment, with you being fully in control. We have done all the hard work on security, so you can just focus on creating the best learning experiences for your students.
To further improve the security of your classroom, you can claim the host-status and use the following features as additional steps:
-
Launch the class a few minutes before the actual time of the class and enable a waiting room, this will allow you to decide whom to allow in your online classroom.
-
Lock your meeting room, when your expected student(s) have joined the class, so that no new member can join in this classroom after that.
-
Disable Chat Screen Sharing for your Students, if required
-
When you want to end the class, end the meeting rather than just leaving it.
-
Always keep your UrbanPro & Zoom App updated to the latest version.
Surely, all these steps will allow you to conduct your classes in a safe, secure online environment.
