Steps to Access Whiteboard in Zoom
1. Check if you are the Host or Participant
- The whiteboard feature can be started only by the host (teacher/tutor).
- If you are a student/participant, you can only access the whiteboard if the host shares it and gives you permission to annotate.
2. For Tutors (Host) → Starting Whiteboard
- In your Zoom meeting, click Share Screen (green button).
- Choose the option Whiteboard and click Share.
- You’ll see annotation tools (pen, text, eraser, shapes, etc.) appear.
3. For Students (Participant) → Using Whiteboard
- If your tutor shares the whiteboard, you can use annotation tools if they enable participant annotation.
- To access it, hover at the top of your Zoom window → click View Options → select Annotate.
4. If Whiteboard Option is Missing
- Ensure your Zoom app is updated to the latest version (older versions may not show it).
- Check with the tutor if they have disabled the whiteboard in their Zoom settings.
- On mobile devices, the whiteboard option may be limited compared to the desktop app.
In short:
If you are a student, you’ll only see/use the whiteboard when the tutor enables and shares it.
If you are a tutor, you need to use Share Screen → Whiteboard to start it.
